International Day of Women and Girls in Science – 11 February 2026
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is held on 11 February every year
This is a day dedicated to promoting gender equality in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and encouraging more women and girls to pursue careers in science and technology.
It aims to break down barriers and stereotypes that have historically limited the participation of women in STEM fields.
This year’s event is focusing on “From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap”
This year’s initiatives highlight inclusive solutions aiming to close the gender gap. Women currently make up 44% of the total science professional workforce.
Initiatives to increase the focus on women in emerging technologies and AI include providing scholarships, and holding more careers events.
